Capsule hotels are hotels developed in japan that features a large numbers of small bed size rooms known as capsules. Capsules hotels provide cheap basic overnight accommodations for guest who can not afford larger, expensive rooms offered by more conventional.
The first capsule hotel in the world was opened in 1979 and was the capsule Inn Osaka located in the Umeda district of Osaka, Japan and designed by Kisho Kurokawa. From there it spreads to other cities within Japan.
Since then this concept was appreciated by the world and its keep going on.
Interesting Facts About Capsule Hotels
1. instead of rooms on both sides of the corridor, bed size capsules are stacked on top of each other, side by side, in capsule hotels.
2. the capsule dimensions are usually 1.2m wide, 2m long & 1m high. so, they are not exactly suitable for standing or squatting. Not all capsule Hotels are 2 square meters long and 1.20m high.
3. Some capsule hotels are bigger and are even more luxuriously equipped with various facilities. some capsule hotels have luxurious lobbies, with a chandelier and posh bar included.
4. The Capsules my have, besides the bed, a hanging TV, suitable to watch in sleeping position, wifi, mirrors, small drawers, and alarm clock.
5. Capsules mostly have no lockers attached. individual lockers for guest to keep their stuff are usually placed in a separate zone, and they are not that roomy.
6. Capsule hotels started doing business more than 30 years ago.
To be exact, capsule Inn Osaka opened in 1979, that is 36 years ago. who would have thought that they would become so popular among business people and tourists alike.
Growing In other countries
As capsule hotels are growing fast in South Asia as compare to the north side like in Canada, USA etc . In India "Mumbai is upgrading" warns a sing announcing the arrival of the metro outside the country's first capsule hotel located on the first floor of a corporate park in suburban Mumbai , urban-pod is cool, silent world removed from the cacophony of the article road outside.
Japan isn't the only country with tiny-room mentality. According to a recent report from wiseguys research consultants, demand for capsule hotels has seen strong growth and isn't showing any signs of a slow down. The global capsule or pod hotels market was worth $159 million in 2016 and is expected to increase by a compound annual growth rate of 6.03 percent of $226 million by the end of 2022.

Urban-pod , founded by entrepreneur duo Shalabh Mittal and Hiren Gandhi draws inspiration from a similar chain in Singapore , which in turn is based on Japan's Famous Capsule hotels. Originally created as accommodation for businessmen looking for a few hours to spend when they miss their train and flights.
Hotel In Mumbai
Inside the hotel , there is an eerie silence , punctuated only by the ceaseless hum of central air conditioning. The decor is minimum staff in navy blue suits , are welcoming but suddenly and the equality is on high alert. This is not a hotel where you can check in anytime you like. The front door, like most door in the establishment , can be accessed only with a key card .

Well,Hotel rates vary according to the number of people staying in a room.In most cases,hotels in Japan do not charge by the room,but instead by the number of people staying in a room.So like when a family staying together or friends sharing a room can help keep the price down and save the money.

ReplyDeleteCapsule hotels seem interesting on many different levels. I feel as if places like Japan, where the city is almost always alive these would be beneficial - great for backpackers or people needing simply somewhere quickly to just sleep. However, in a capsule hotel environment, is there an alternate room where guests can freshen up? If not & it is JUST strictly somewhere to climb in, sleep and go, I do not think they would last very long in major cities like Toronto or North America. Since the price is much lower than your ordinary hotel room, capsule hotels would probably be much more successful as an "attraction" for the experience rather than an every day hotel option.

yes you are right but now capsule hotel are in japan ,china, Iceland, Australia,Hong-Kong,India.They are these hotel as a attraction or profit purpose but these hotel can use in other purpose also like in Toronto or in north america there are many homeless people , so these hotel can use for them in every cheap rate that they can afford.

Pod hotel is a creative invention for hospitality industry. It makes accommodation more accessible and affordable. Thank to that creativity, hospitality industry is not only about luxury hotel but also is about diverse kinds of hotel like pod hotel. Pod hotel is extreme convenient and reasonable for not only the guests but also for hoteliers. It can accommodate hundred of rooms in limit space, which save time for managing and cleaning, and be suitable for travelers with short time. I never ever have a chance to stay in that kind of hotel but I'll definitely try it in the future.

Hello my name is mandeep kumar 301039999.The normal hotels and capsule hotels have very different aspects as the normal hotels provide rooms on rent with beds so the person paying for a visit can easily enjoy the luxury of the comfortable bed and can even board another person along with him. but in capsule hotels, A person will have to adjust in a capsule where single bed is given and full night have to be adjusted in it.

ReplyDeleteI think that the trend of building pod hotels vs. regular hotels has impacted costs and development by increasing the amount of money able to be made within a certain square footage. For example, because the pods aren't as big as regular hotel rooms, you are able to make more money from more clients within the same span of time.
Pod hotels in the future, may be aimed more specifically to individual.
I think that the pod hotels are good enough to provide the other sectors of the hospitality industry competition, and gives guests opportunities to choose the way they want to spend their nights.

DeleteThe concept of the pod hotel i think is a really unique, creative idea introduced to the Hospitality industry. Now a days, hotels can be very pricey and not alot of people cant afford a decent hotel. These pod hotel ideas are very reasonable for everyone, they are cheap enough so an average person could afford it and it even comes in a more luxurious setting if the guest chose that. Even though they seem rather small, they can fit a lot more hotel spaces in a smaller area and the hotel industry will highly profit from this. I think overtime this concept will grow much bigger and the community will benefit from it.

DeleteThe trend of pod hotels are upcoming and have a blooming future. As we all know that in future, one of the problem that we are all going to face is over population, which can indeed lead to limited living space and less availability of rooms in tourists destinations. So i think that pod hotels will provide us with a better option even in the case of affordability and it only takes less space when compared to other multi billion dollar hotels and establishments which takes up a lot of resources and space. But i don't think it will be suitable for a family rather it will help more solo travelers. There is much to be done to meet the expectations of the tourists who travel as a pack if they are targeting family sectors.

Great job on presenting about Capsule hotel. In my opinion, ss capsule hotels industry keep on growing bigger and bigger, I think that it is one of the best invention for those budget travelers. It is because capsule hotels or pod hotels are hotels that provide only a bed with some small functions in the cabin; ideally for short staying as budget as possible, doesn't has to be something fancy but a bed enought to spend a night. Also, since it is consider cheap to spend a night, it makes any kinds of travel cheaper when theres a cheaper option for you to choose. Overall, it is a good presentation that you guys did and I would love to try staying one of these kind of hotel in the future.

ReplyDeletePod hotels to me are just good for people that are backpacking, or traveling for a short amount of time. They are small and not convenient for families or couples traveling. During your presentation, you never mentioned the cost of these pod hotels. I cant see them being very cheap, they are probably close to the average cost of hotel. They don't offer the same amenities of a luxury hotel, which makes them one night stay hotels. And sharing a washroom is also an inconvenience, but i guess for some people they are worth it. personally I wouldn't stay in one. But I didn't know they even existed until your presentation so thank you for the knowledge.
The best thing i liked in capsule hotel is that its cheap and kind of ecofreindly because it saves alot of space and other things too, like it is convenient for customers too. POD hotels are i guess in coming trend and are going to have a bright future

ReplyDeletePod hotels are hotels which offers guest small bed-sized rooms.Since it is small it even known as capsule hotels.it is much cheaper than any big hotels and which even gives people an excellent stay over there.The one thing that i noticed as a demerit is that a family or group of people go there may not be so convenient because capsule bed rooms.Otherwise it is so good.
